Try, try again - special edition to test a feature
Hello, Winning English readers! This is a special, shorter edition of the newsletter to explain that you’ll soon see a new podcast episode in which I’m running a test. I need to see how a podcasting feature on this publishing platform, Substack, works. (The regular newsletter and podcast will published later today.) Even so, I don’t want to miss an opportunity to give you something you can use.
I’m hoping this new feature works, but if it doesn’t, I’ll find a way to fix it. After all, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again” is a common saying to encourage yourself or others to keep working on solving a problem, despite any failures or setbacks you might encounter. Note how “try” is repeated for emphasis.
You might be wondering what I’m testing. Here in the beginning, Winning English has been freely available. But soon it will only be available with a paid subscription. (Although there will still be the occasional public post.)
While it’s clear to me how subscriptions work with the email newsletter, it’s less clear how that works with the podcast. So, I’m running this test to figure it out.
Thanks for your patience, and talk soon!
